Board Member Application

This position is voluntary with no compensation.

The application deadline is November 15, 2024, but may close earlier based on the number of applications received. Complete the application, resume, and up to 3 professional and/or personal letters of recommendation. Applications may be emailed to info@beaconnevada.org. Applicants will receive a confirmation of receipt of their application within 3 working days. Top applicants will be interviewed by panel within 1-2 weeks following the application closure. Final selections will be made within 3 working days following the last scheduled interview.

The Beacon (the “Organization”) is a nonprofit organization connecting rural Nevadans with critical resources and services, promoting self-efficacy and well-being through community support. The goal of the Organization is to help people living in rural areas to gain the tools needed to build equity in accessing resources and services, with a focus on removing barriers in technology, language, and distance. Our most critical areas of support focus on supporting youth, people with disabilities, people with limited English proficiency, and military veterans.

In our community, there are an array of remarkable organizations engaged in the important work of making our world a better place. We are humbled knowing that you are interested in supporting our mission and goals.

The following application offers us an opportunity to know more about you, your skills, and attributes related to volunteer board service. On the other side, we want to know what motivates you and how you think about our organization so that we can help to create an excellent board experience for you.

With being awarded a board position, you will use your existing skills, or gain new skills, in non-profit program administration, banking, business, philanthropy, public relations, supporting community residents, developing business related documents and presentations, networking, professional communication, leadership skills, event planning, marketing, and other business-related functions. The Board of Directors (the “Board”) is advisory in nature, guiding the decisions of the executive officers of the Organization, but it is encouraged to contribute volunteer service to business functions when needed. The monthly time commitment may range from 2-10 hours per month. There is no minimum education requirement.
